As part of the “Energiewende Osterholz 2030” project, the municipality of Schwanewede has set itself the goal of covering its entire electricity consumption with renewable energies by 2030. The Klingenberg wind farm, built by Energiequelle GmbH in 2015, contributes 13% to this goal. As a compensatory measure, a 12-hectare drained moor at Klingenberg was rewetted in 2016.

In the district of Osterholz (Lower Saxony), the Klingenberg wind farm with six wind turbines was commissioned in 2015/2016. To compensate for the impact on the natural environment, a drained raised bog of about 12 hectares was restored. Construction work began in spring 2016, with trees being felled and dams built to store rainwater.
