Our environmental management
Energiequelle GmbH is already inextricably linked with environmental and nature conservation issues through its business areas. In 2018, we introduced an environmental management system at our main sites in Kallinchen and Bremen that meets the requirements of the EMAS III Regulation.
EMAS stands for ‘Eco-Management and Audit Scheme’ and is a voluntary environmental management system of the European Union. It was developed to help companies and organisations reduce their environmental impact and continuously improve their environmental performance.
Why did we choose EMAS?

Sustainability at Energiequelle
The aim of EMAS is to guide companies towards sustainable development and to create transparency for the public. By implementing EMAS, companies can reduce costs, use resources more efficiently and improve their image.
We are committed to continuously improving our environmental performance and involving all our employees. Our environmental management is actively practised and strengthens each individual's identification with the environmental protection interests of Energiequelle GmbH.
Our environmental policy
Energy with a future. That is the guiding principle of Energiequelle GmbH.
We have been realising projects in the field of renewable energies since 1997. We develop, construct and operate wind energy and photovoltaic plants, substations and energy storage systems in Germany and Europe. In addition, we work on innovative energy supply solutions, take care of the repowering of older plants and distribute sustainably produced electricity to end customers through our subsidiary eqSTROM. All our employees in Germany, France, Finland, Poland, South Africa and Greece are committed to a successful energy transition every day – passionately, courageously and humanely.
We not only actively contribute to achieving the climate protection goals set by the German government and to leaving an intact environment for future generations, but we are also committed to minimising the environmental impact of our activities. At the same time, we optimise the positive environmentally relevant effects of our business activities and thus contribute to the realisation of a sustainable energy supply. Energiequelle promotes climate-friendly electric mobility by developing its own charging infrastructure.
With the introduction of an environmental management system in accordance with EMAS in 2018, the binding legal and voluntary commitments that we have made to continuously improve our environmental performance have been made measurable and optimised.
We take responsibility for environmental protection in our services and business activities. We prioritise services and suppliers whose working methods and technologies are sustainable and conserve resources. We meet the energy needs of our offices with energy from photovoltaics, wind energy and combined heat and power plants. Waste is avoided as far as possible.
The management views the sustainable use of resources and the involvement of citizens and interested parties as the cornerstone of lasting economic success. To ensure this success, employees receive ongoing training and professional development. Training programmes also cover the constant changes in regulations and legal norms. Compliance with legal requirements is a matter of course for us.
We take responsibility. Out of conviction.
